Good evening Sweet Ones

I trust that this update finds you in good health, and if you are in the Bay Area, somewhere cool…phew, it is hot, hot, hot here…I am sitting in the Mission with my fan on. I have just prepared a yummy raw grawnola mix with (all raw) almonds, cashews, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, sprouted buckwheat, hemp seeds, maca and amaranth, mesquite, agave, coconut water, dates, coconut, oranges and apples, pumpkin spice (not raw! but so little, it is RAWsome!!), himalayan salt and cranberries…in about three days, after dehydrating at 112 degrees it will make a power breakfast topped with the newly in season organic strawberries and the leaving us soon Fuji apple (which i have enjoyed so much this year)…so that is where I am right now!

I was also thinking that we had created some “down” time or at least time to regroup…but you know when you create a space, Universe has a habit of filling it. For us, it is the passionate topic of diabetes. A “dis-ease” that has exponentially increased in the last 30 years. Indeed, Adult Onset Diabetes (Type II) is no longer classified as such, many, too many, of our children are interrupting their play to inject themselves with insulin…a dis-ease carrying a life sentence. And after 10-20 years of taking insulin, other things start to go wrong within the body and more drugs are needed. A diabetic might expect to take as many as 20 or more medications a day!!! Not to mention the financial cost and strain on general health. There is no hope they say…in fact, the Amercian Diabetes Association states, “Diabetes is a chronic disease for which there is no cure“. NO CURE…so why are people raising money for diabetes if there is no cure…or is there???

NEWSFLASH…THERE IS A CURE FOR DIABETES: Dr Gabriel Cousens of The Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, Patagonia, Arizona http://www.treeoflife.nu has been reversing diabetes for over 35 years, along with other natural practitioners. I don’t really think of it as cure but feel reversal is a better word for it. Diabetes can be turned and off like a switch, so in a way you can don’t cure it forever but you can turn it off forever…how, I hear you ask…DIET. And they have documented it in a compelling movie http://www.rawfor30days.com.

Six people were taken to the Tree of Life Center and put on Dr Cousen’s raw food diet for 30 days…results were ASTOUNDING and I will cover those later but for now take a peek at the preview of the documentary that IS and WILL change and save lives, I kid you not, oh be prepared to cry, at least I cried when I saw the preview and even more so when I saw the full feature Read the rest of this entry »

Good evening dear ones

I find myself very busy since coming back to this side of health and though it has been fun, I am looking forward to having some “Shivie time” and “Shivie and Cemaaj time”. We were hit with the presence of the kidney stone in the second week of January, totally by suprise I (Shivie) was incapacitated beyond anything I had ever known…and in turn, so was Cemaaj, who suddenly became responsible for everything, including getting me to the Emergency Room four times in eight days…it took it’s toll on our time, our plans, our finances, my health…but it didn’t (we are pleased to say) take it’s toll on our love…perhaps that sounds corny, perhaps more so if you don’t know us and “our story”. However it sounds it is true. I give gratitude every day for the love I find myslef enveloped in.

For the first four weeks, I was so sick I could not get out of bed…I barely made it to the bathroom…and even lying in bed was painful, I couldn’t watch movies or do anything but wait for the next pain relief…so many things that ran against the grain…but we did what we had to do…and once again, other things (plans) went by the wayside but we grew stronger. I was in love with Cemaaj before I was sick and being in his care made me fall in love with him all over again. Ok, enough I know, I am blessed to feel this love and now I am back we are ready, and stronger, to pick up those plans and make them happen.

We are taking a couple of weeks to regroup and set our goals. We will be reviewing and posting dates for the upcoming “Rawk It for Summer” workshop and a One Week Brown Bag Juice Feast…exciting stuff is happening again at TeamRAW and we can’t wait to share it with you. If you want to check out our reviews look us up (TeamRAW) on yelp.com and see what people are saying about us (I am learning to “toot our horn” in the name of sharing with more people).

The Vagina Monologues is on Thursday…I am deeply honored to be part of this amazing production (oh I am getting the hang of this toot my own horn!!! Don’t worry I won’t toot ALL the time!!!). I am part of a community of women that are each unique and collectively an Army of WomenWarriors…thank you to all those who are coming to see my first performance, and special thanks to Evonne (Producer) who asked me to audition this year and to Sam (Director) for her patience and belief…and no this is not an Oscar speech I am preparing, I guess I am in “deep gratitude” mode whilst also almost spinning out at the same time…if you get my drift…

Anyway, I just popped into this entry to let you know that TeamRAW will be doing workshops soon so get your spatulas ready and look for updates. You can also email me at shivie@teamraw.com and I will put you on our mailing list (oh, I do need some tech help here, though I will do it manually in the absence of such).

Thank you for reading, we would love to see you again. As always feel free to leave a comment or request below…

And my favorite Skin so Fresh Recipe du Jour to “Put the Spring back in your skin” is “Lavender, Honey Face Gauc”

Ingredients (makes enough for two people):
1/4 of a ripe avocado
3 tbsp honey
Couple drops lavender and or geranium essential oil

Mix avo and honey* until smooth, add in drops of oil…apply layer over clean face, avoiding the delicate eye area. Leave for 15-20 minutes…relax on your back and apply soothing cucumber over your eyes…take 15 minutes for yourself…breathe…then rinse with warm water, can be followed with a ginger, lavender steam followed by rubbing ice cube or splashing with cold water, or just go straight to the ice/water without the steam…always follow with moisturiser and optional spray of rose water…

*for a mask for oily skin mix clay with water to make a paste and then add to avo/honey mixture…

Not only will your skin be radiant, you will smell beautiful all day…and your senses will love for that, not to mention the comments you recieve…

Have fun making your recipes, it beats getting it out of a jar with all kinds of unknown ingredients.

Whatever you are doing, wherever you are, make it a RAWsome day.
In Deep Gratitude
